Make up & Hijabi: a winning combination!

Salam Alaykum sisters,
I have a little story to tell you :)
When I was growing up, I remember seeing my mum applying make up on. She would put the lipstick on, with a bit of eyeliner & eye shadows around her eyes and then, she would pick the most beautiful hijabi that could match her make up. As she was beautifying herself, I would just stare at her and daydream about when would I be able to apply make-up, on so that I could look as glamorous as my mother. I was only allowed to put Vaseline until I started going to university. The most she would allow me to do was wearing a red lip-gloss like once a year and I remember how happy I used to get.
At one point, during my teenager years, I started hearing people telling me that Muslim women had to cover their heads to look less attractive. I was not full aware of the holy scriptures of the Quran but I knew there was something wrong in that statement.
Now I can say for sure that the purpose of hijab is not to make women less attractive, rather it is to show the true beauty of a woman. This is in the Quran. And wearing an hijabi is hugely convenient, saves time and very practical. Which is why I think wearing the Hijabi and make up is absolutely a winning combination. A great way to feel & to look beautiful without giving up on your dignity, modesty and self-respect.
Today, I am so proud to see so many successful Muslimah make-up artists doing great jobs in beautifying sisters with loads of different hijabs. Enjoy these pictures from the portfolio of the Muslimah MUA Mena, who is based in Kano (North Nigeria).
